RFID Inventory Solution Connect Retail

A cloud-based RFID inventory solution was implemented in retail for Burton Sportartikel GmbH. The system runs in the cloud as Software as a Service (SaaS) and is used in Burton's European and US stores. The sporting items have an RFID transponder (UHF RFID label) attached or stuck on them when they arrive in the store.

The items are read regularly in the store using an integrated Android RFID handheld reader. The inventory in an entire store is recorded in less than half an hour.

The following functions are available with erfideo Connect Cloud Retail and are used in the project:

Web Applikation and Backend

• KPIs are clearly displayed on the dashboard in the form of numbers and graphics
• At Burton uses the web-based reports offered by the erfideo Connect Cloud Retail system. The following reports are available: inventory, ERP difference, goods in, sales, goods out, shrinkage, write-offs, NOSBOS (Not on Sales but on Stock), dwell time
• The system can be administered via the RFID system’s web application
• The master data and RFID inventory data can be synchronized with the ERP system via web-based interfaces. Manual synchronization via CSV files is possible. (Import of master data from the ERP system and comparison of inventory data with the ERP system)

RFID Handheld

• Stocktaking
• Stock Verification (RFID – ERP System)
• Info – Display of master data and last action with timestamp of the recorded article
• Encoding - if a transponder is missing or lost, a replacement can be encoded using the handheld reader
• Software updates for the application on the handheld reader are provided via the backend in the cloud

Benefits of the RFID solution used by Burton:

Very fast stocktaking with the RFID handheld reader.

By regularly comparing inventory data, the actual inventory data is always available in real time in the ERP system. This means that items that are no longer available (shrinkage) no longer have to be searched for and are available for further processing (e.g. refills, orders, correct inventory for online trading).
